Home Online Poker

To find good, reliable places to gamble online, visit my other site www.bettingtowin.co.uk

Poker is a game that evolved from various card games and can be traced in different forms back over a thousand years.

In days gone by you had only a couple of choices – play poker at home either for fun or for free, or secondly enrol in a casino and play for real. Now there’s a third choice, the easiest of them all – log onto the internet and play poker from home.

Its easy, some believe too easy, just set up an account at a good online poker room, buy some chips and away you go!

With dedicated poker channels on TV, thousands of online poker sites on the go 24 hours a day, there’s always a game to join. You can play for free or for real money against players from all over the world, day or night. As well as individual games you could take part in a tournament with anywhere from 10 to a thousand opponents.

I won’t go through all the rules or variants of poker here, just a brief outline of my favourite game – Texas Hold’em. (Full rules of poker can be found here)

The aim of the game, unsurprisingly, is to form the best hand you can from the cards you’re dealt (the pocket cards) along with three of the five community cards that end up on the table.
Hands vary from a ‘high card’ right through to a royal flush.

Its probably a good idea to find somewhere to play for free before you take your credit card out and learn the hard way. Many online casinos will give you chips to play for free in the hope you will continue afterwards for real. Here are some good free poker rooms I use.

Once you’re happy with your level of play, it’s worth visiting a good, reliable and above all trustworthy poker room. I use William Hill from here in the UK as they’re a well known household name. They also offer a good initial bonus which is always worth noting when making your choice.

All online poker rooms are based outside of the US, the laws and regulations governing them are therefore different from what many players are familiar with. For this reason, it is recommended that you only play in larger, established sites and only if it is legal!

Many sites won’t accept credit cards as the banks refuse to get involved – this means you need to sign up with a ‘virtual’ bank. The casino you choose will offer advice on the best way of going about this.
The biggest difference between casino poker and home online poker playing is that you can’t see the expressions and mannerisms your opponents are showing. Deciding whether other players are bluffing or not has to be judged on how the bets are being placed.

Poker can be an addictive game – take it steady, have a go and remember all the time that when you buy chips online, it is real money you’re losing or hopefully winning.

I lost loads until I found  Jonathan Rothman’s sit n’ go system – this year I have made over 40 grand profit!
Seriously, if you want to get into tournaments or even make a small living at poker you need to take a look, I think this is the right link.
